It's great when people can get invites through others they know. It's lousy when users who have twitter accounts linked get spammed for invites. Maybe we can cut both with one tool.
If the Twitter Mastodon API permits, I'd like to have a form where visitors seeking invites can auth their Twitter Mastodon account to get a page linking Twitter Mastodon accounts following them that are registered by Lobsters users. If it helps, we already have a Twitter listMastodon list of auth'd accounts (a cron job maintains this reliably). Then the visitor can DM those connections (manually on twitter.com their mastodon instance or in their client, not on Lobsters) to ask if they could share an invite. As soon as we present that list, we should throw away any auth information/credentials for them; the convenience of having that available to connect to their account when they get invited is outweighed by the risks/general creepy factor of keeping it.
Mentioning #499 to connect to the ActivityPub issue because it'd be nice to support it there, too, but that's out-of-scope for this feature.

Or, for linked GitHub accounts, people who've contributed to repos with you. That's either going to be pretty darn easy from their API or ridiculously hard, no idea which.
