Related to #1 .

I know you specified that you can do this on the OS layer, but I think it would be easier to do this on the application layer. Adding a configuration option to specify port range would be nice. You could use https://github.com/indexzero/node-portfinder to select ports from the port range option.

I am going to submit a PR, but I'm not a nodeJS developer - it might be hacky/ugly.
