The following Linux distributions were successfully used to compiler or run DPDK.

- Fedora release 20
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- Wind River Linux 6
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
- SUSE Enterprise Linux 11 SP3
These distributions may need additional packages that are not installed by default, or a specific kernel. Refer to the Linux guide <linux_gsg> and FreeBSD guide <freebsd_gsg> for details.
