I too have did some programming where having a Terminal Widget would come in
handy.
If you want to download an example of an application I did, go to
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=367386#367386 and download
the Pet package.  Then change the extension PET to .tar.gz
for easy extraction from /
You can try it out on your OS an tell me what you think.  It is made to
format internal floppies and external USB floppies.
You may have to modify it some as it uses rxvt as the terminal to do it's
thing.
