Ixpeobssim has the capability to simulate the exact orbit, including when we cannot take data: if the source is not visible or the instrument is in the SAA. Moreover there is the capability to simulate calibration sources, which are active while sources are occulted therefore outside the GTIs.

For these reasons we may have something in the output file to keep track of the status of the instrument along the orbit. Something like the status of the DU (calibrating, saa, idle, running, etc.) and/or position along the orbit etc.

Not sure how complicated it can be and if it can be really useful other than for debug. After all, most of the users care only about the photon list of astrophysical source.

I'm not even sure what would be the right place for these columns. Current tables contains events, and don't seem to be the right place. My request look more like a telemetry table.
