I spent some time a while ago - - - - don't remember taking any notes when
I updated by Devuan Daedalus system to LXQT1.2.
See that 1.3 has been released for some components.

There is a warning to not inflict requests on the dev team when running older
version(s). I would like to honor that but I'm not supposed to even have
version 1.2 yet never mind 1.3. An easier way to update what is available to
update would be quite useful. Dealing with this a package at a time - - - that's
an easy recipe for creating messes imo. Something like I could use
"$ apt update lxqt" which would then show me any of the modules that are
capable of being updated. This may be a pie in the sky request but as I've
got only 32 modules working them individually isn't just a pain it won't
likely get done or is at least quite difficult.

I'm running a Ryzen 7 5800X proc with a Radeon RX570X running 4 - 1920 x
1080 displays and 1 - 4k (3180x2160) running Linux 6.1.0-9-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Debian 6.1.27-1 (2023-05-08)
x86_64 GNU/Linux (Daedalus). I've also got lxdm as a window manager
and I've got a total of 46 virtual desktops (ja more than a few but its a
great way to separate different projects/ideas so I use it - - - LOTS!).
What I run into is that when I'm using packages that
are heavy graphics 'feeders' - - - like FreeCAD I get a desktop whose
longevity is measured in days. Its not like the system is ground to a halt
but I need to go to another system and ssh over to my main box and then
do a reboot. Its not like I'm short of resources (64 GB of ram) but somehow
I'm faced with this rather too regular graphics miasma.
(Problem shows up when I return to the machine and activate the monitors - -
they are in deep sleep mode. When things have gone south - - - well the panel(s)
are gone from the displays (using 3 panels - - - one for the desktops, one with system
temperature information and a clock and the third is for open packages) and there is
some graphics bzzt (messy blocks) and no open windows respond to input. Rebooting
the system doesn't take long (using ssds so there is a fair amount of snap) but its necessary
to re-write the desktop switcher files which I copy from an openbox configuration file which
seems to survive intact. This is followed by opening the various packages that I'm
working with (some presently 19 with some (Firefox-esr) having pages open on a
number of different desktops.

I have been using lxqt and its previous iteration lxde for quite some years now and would
rather work with y'all than try to find a way to not have desktop issues by running a
more powerful (if there is such) desktop environment.

Please advise if there is some testing/checking mods that I could try to help y'all help
me - - - - -

TIA
