I was under the impression room assistant can tell me which room a device is in?

I have 3 raspberry pis setup with room assistant (one v3, one v4, and one zero w), one in the bedroom, office, and living room. In the logs they all say they connected to the mqtt server fine and the other 2 log out they've discovered another instance and will auto assign a leader in the cluster. Every thing looks good so far. Here's my general config for all 3:

If I explore my mqtt messages though I'm only getting one topic - the topic of my phone and the distance but gives me no info to which instance is sending this message.. How am I supposed to know which device is saying my phone is x distance away?

to be sure it's not the software, in nodered I'm connected to my mqtt server and listening to room-assistant/# messages. I'm getting the same results there. Is the the intended outcome? I thought each device would tell you have far it was and from what device so you could use those values to figure out what room the device was in?

ok i see the issue. you cant get the device location AND the distance in one mqtt topic. i hope that's a feature that can be added.

Only in Home Assistant you have then both values :

im using mqtt through nodered to create automations. this project doesnt actually need home assistant to work, it seems to have just evolved from home assistant device tracking in general. putting in pr to make this change.

Is there any other way to create an automation then using nodered. I have everything set up in hassio with 3 pi 3 rooms it sees the devices leaving and entering rooms but it wont let me create an automation in the mqtt device list.
been pulling my hair out just want to turn on and off a light when i go in room not wife or kid.

mqtt auto discovery in the latest version of hass should auto add entities you can use automations on.

When I hit the plus sign in the device section to and an automation I get this
There are no automations available for this device.
