Simplify running CutMD within the VSI

VSI users should be able to view slices of their data along arbitrary axes, for example view slices along 110.

Perhaps we can expand the CutMD box so that it'll generate the projection object?

Pull request #647 added CutMD to the VSI and the changelog may be useful for understanding how it works.
