Summary
The OSIRIS instrument is being upgraded with an SI analyzer, similar to Basis from ORNL, alongside the graphite analyzer. As a result the OSIRIS workflow needs to be updated to support this within Mantid.
Intended outcome
The new SI analyzer requires an increase in the time scale of measurements from ps to ns. However users still need to be able to have the option to use the current graphite analyzer/reduction. The benefit of this work will be to enable additional capability for OSIRIS instrument users without losing the current functionality. This in turn allows access to new scientific research (and publications) for OSIRIS experiments.
Acceptance criteria
Example/simulated/similar data can be successfully reduced and analyzed within Mantid. This should provide the expected results (for t ~ ps should be similar to graphite results, otherwise similar to Basis results).
How will it work?
The Indirect data reduction GUI will need to be refactored and SI analyzer options added.
A new IDF and a new IPF for reduction will be required.
The current reduction algorithm will need to be adapted to enable both SI and graphite analyzer data to be processed.
