Mapping for FGM awareness in Tanzania

For International Women’s Day, the data team will join hands with crowd2map Tanzania in helping the fight against female genital mutilation in the region of Mara, Tanzania. The major entities to map are schools, roads, buildings. These are the relevant tags that can be used :

• name=*
• building=school
• building=yes
• highway=residential
• highway=path
• amenity=school

Work-flow to be followed

1. Download the Primary School OSM dataset from the tasking manager (Description -> How to start -> Primary School OSM dataset) and add it on JOSM as a separate data layer. (Drag and drop in JOSM)
2. Add this tms layer to JOSM for better visibility of primary schools data set (red points)(tms[99]:https://api.mapbox.com/v4/pratikyadav.d2f92211/{zoom}/{x}/{y}.png?access_token=pk.eyJ1IjoicHJhdGlreWFkYXYiLCJhIjoiMTA2YWUxNjRkNmFmZGQ4YzAxZWFiNDk0NDM1YjE1YjAifQ.4P6N5dNmA_WQXd3BsJvu5w)
3. Go to tasking manager and pick a task -> Open it in JOSM
4. With the help of the tms layer, spot a school
5. If the school is in proximity to the location of the point then draw an area around the school. Add buildings using combination of Mapbox and Bing imagery.
6. Switch layers to Tanzania+-+Primary+Schools.osm, copy the tags associated to the point (cmd+c)
7. Go back to the data layer and paste the tags to that particular school area. (cmd+shift+v)
8. Add roads from the schools to connect to the major roads.
