Force a page to update / refresh when something changes on the backend

I am building a system where there is a message queue underneath with things changing all the time.

For example https://github.com/mprimi/nasefa

The current web at https://github.com/gedw99/nasefa/tree/main/commands/web, i am changing over to using Gcomponents.

So as you can see this "nasefa" thing is a thing tof sending files to others. It assumes each user is running their own server with the Web gui, and NATS distributes the files to these servers based on basic rules.

SO it would be cool if i can force a page update when a new file arrives on the backend.

Whats the options ?

• Granular update using SSE. Maybe laters...
• WHole page force update
• Fragment update. That would be the best option, because they won't lose their place in the scroll if its a huge page.

I can extend this later with notifications, and so send the user a notification that they then click on that takes them to the page also. But thats out of scope for now.

I'm even thinking of doing an official one, because I've started using HTMX myself. 😊 Did you ever get your SSE/WS approach working?

I recently needed to do something similar, and just used good old client-side polling. Works like a charm.

For push I am using nats - does Web sockets.

Am working on a htmx client in golang but have not much time.

then I can use htmx for web and native gui.
for Web I push html of course.
for native I use gio and the data pushed is xml.
