store.get('key').length returns Cannot read property 'length' of undefined

i stored an array of objects in the store and trying to get the length via
store.get('key').length returns Cannot read property 'length' of undefined.
but when i just get the values, it returns them.

what am i doing wrong or what could be the issue .
