Debian packaging #381
Comments
@jpleau prepared Debian packages some time ago. It should at least be a good starting point? And yes I agree a release is kind of overdue ... |
I also did some work: https://github.com/legovini/vis/tree/debian/sid/debian but @jpleau is still working on it I'll leave the files there for reference and support his effort. |
Hi Feel free to use whatever you need from my repo. I didn't have the time to keep it updated and don't think I will be able to for a while. I can help with whatever is needed (minus uploading since I'm only a DM for the time being) |
This is the link to the ITP bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=838895 And here is a clone of the vis repository with a Debian packaging branch (debian/sid): |
The release was finally tagged, feel free to update packaging related information on the wiki. Thanks! |
This is not really an issue, but I think this is the best place to discuss the topic.
If nobody else is already working on it I'm willing to package Vis for Debian and have it accepted as part of the distribution.
I plan to start working on it in the next days, but I think I'll wait for v0.3 to be released before submitting the package to the Debian developers for review, as a lot of things changed for the better since v0.2. This unless @martenne doesn't plan to release v0.3 any soon.
I'd also like to ask @martenne to
git tag
the next releases, as this makes the whole downstream maintenance easier.Cheers,
Paride
