Often I return to my desktop thinking it is unlocked, because I have full view of the desktop/applications. Only after moving the mouse or giving a keystroke does the lock-screen appear. Information in open applications should already be hidden behind a lock-screen, when away from desktop.

I have seen this too, not recently though.
