This is normal behaviour, delay is always grey out if you select "Select area to grab".
Why do you think it is a bug?
Btw. what benefit do you expect?

Other users and I planned to use this feature.
Of course we can run something as sleep 5 && mate-screenshot -c and then open GIMP and crop image, but this is not user-friendly.

I understand that it is legacy of GNOME (for example 2.30 in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS has delay disabled). But is any technical reason to disable delay while using "Select area to grab"? It works from terminal with mate-screenshot -a -d 10 but not from GUI.

Well it might be usefull if you want to screenshoot a menu or a popup.
But 'mate-screenshot -a -d 10' don't gives me a delay here with 1.20 from master?
With which version does this work?

Oh great, just took screenshot of clock with seconds - mate-screenshot -a -d 10 ignores delay and takes screenshot immediately - tested it again on 1.12, 1.18 and 1.20. Should I report new bug in addition to #189 ?

No, we have enough reports :)
So, there is no mismatch between command line and GUI.
In result it is a feature request.

+1 for this feature request, screenshoting menus and popups is like a hell on MATE currently.

Feature still seems to be missing in mate-screenshot version 1.24.0
Meansing that the command : mate-screenshot -a -d15 still does not work as a user would expect it to.
Would be nice, if this could be added in the near future.
