search broken

We have search but I guess it has to be hooked it up to the docs somehow b/c it doesn't work at all

this is roughly what's supposed to be returned

follow up from a discussion w/ @QuLogic is that the bug is probably that the homepage is building it's own separate search index rather than using the one from the docs

returns one result because

so a likely fix would go to https://github.com/matplotlib/mpl-sphinx-theme or upstream to pydata-sphinx-theme and
the search template is at https://github.com/matplotlib/mpl-sphinx-theme/blob/main/mpl_sphinx_theme/search.html
