Hello World and hello @mattrubin,

I'm using the Authenticator app for some years now on my iPad. And I'm very happy with it. Lately I saw the issues here, where people had trouble getting there 2FA codes back when they changed there devices. That got me thinking. I do encrypted iPad backups to my MacBook. When I backup my MacBook it contains an encrypted backup of my Authenticator app, like a Matroschka. This is not ideal since my second factor should never meet my first factor, but I need the encrypted iPad backup because the encrypted option backups files from my iPad that wouldn't be backuped otherwise.

Is there a way to extract the stored keys from Authenticator? Then I would backup these keys on a USB drive. I could disconnect that USB drive and store it somewhere safe. I would like to exclude the Authenticator data from encrypted backups from my iPad, is there a way to do that?

Best wishes 😃
