As a proposal... it would be good if user could override the highlights via a config like mellow_custom_highlights . All in all my problem is with the diffs, which are a deal breaker for me. They are too obtrusive / not easy to read, I understand it's probably a minimal approach but I need diffs to don't be that noisy. The diff colors for the background itself are too bright, I would need something like red / green but almost blended with the background so I can have syntax highlighting on the text as well. So all in all, I would prefer to set them as I need, and probably other users would appreciate the possibility to override the highlights as they needed too.
As an example this is what I do with catppuccin theme, I would like some options to do the same:
