Hi!

My name is Sergi and I have contributed to Melpa with two simple chemical utilities packages: molar-mass and chembalance.

Now I have not got personal coding projects and I want to offer my collaboration to help in any elisp project. I am interested in maths, chemistry, editing, and I code in elisp and python.

If you are developing packages to melpa and you need help, please tell me!

Thanks.

That's cool, thanks! I'm sure some of the contributing MELPA package authors would be interested in your help. This issue is probably not the best way to reach them, so here are some ideas:

  • Search for relevant packages using the melpa.org search facility, try out the packages (and/or review the code) and contact the authors directly to see if they would help
  • Consider publishing a list or review of maths/chemistry etc. packages, and post it somewhere as a community resource, e.g. on a blog or reddit
  • Ask on Reddit to see if anyone would like help working on such a package, or whether someone has an annoyance with a package that you could help them fix

I'm very happy to see more elisp authors, and looking forward to seeing what you work on in future! 🎉

Reopened for a while so as to allow responses :-)

Hi @purcell, and thanks to you for your work on melpa.

I didn't know if this is the best place to offer collaboration, but I am not on social networks and I want to contribute to emacs and melpa and to help people who also want to do it.

Close this issue when you consider.

Thanks for your help!

@sergiruiztrepat, This is a nice offer. I have been using org-gcal for a while on org-mode Emacs.

I find org-gcal particularly useful when the event is embedded into my projects (headlines).

So, I was thinking of porting the whole code and seeing if we can convert it into org-gmail and all the mail can be embedded into org-mode headline as well, rather than have an inbox for emails.

Please do let me know if this project is of interest to you and if you would like to work on this one?

I have a private repo for now and I haven't done a lot of work on the code.

If you are interested, I could add you to the repo and we can starting working. My elisp skills are very limited.

Have a good day!
Bala

@balaramadurai Hi! I do not use org-gcal but I will have a look on it. Please, give me a little time and add me to your private repo so I can see what you have done. I will also write you there to see exactly what you want to do.
Thanks!

Hi, @sergiruiztrepat.

Long time ago I merged the PRs from the original org-gcal repo (it was kinda abandoned) and moved it to my own repo: https://github.com/kidd/org-gcal.el/ . This is the one that melpa uses.

Unfortunately I'm not using it anymore, but since then, @telotortium has been unofficially maintaining it, and taking good care of it (great job there, thanks!). You'll see that the code is a bit convoluted ,mostly to the oauth flows and emacs lisp http client.

Hi, @kidd and @balaramadurai ,

I've looked at org-gcal but it is incompat with my emacs working version. Now I am at 25.3.2 and I need it to work everyday. I have tried to install version 27 but I have a "Fatal error 11 : Segmentation fault" when sending mails with mu4e.

So, at the moment, I am not going to work on packages depending on versions up to 25.3.2. Maybe in the future I will solve this problem with version 27 and would look at org-gcal.

I am sorry to @balaramadurai but I am opened to other proposals of collaboration.

Thanks!

Not sure if the Reddit user is yourself, so here I share the link, just in case you like any idea:

Thanks @Ypot ! My Reddit message was this. But I appreciate your link, I will have a look at it.

Since I post this issue in melpa, I have done two little contributions to create-link and evil-nerd-commenter. Now I am reviewing screenshot. So I am happy with the results of my offer. Go on!
