The arrows need to be monochromatic and should be more symmetrical and standard-looking.

Different arrows are part of the plan. Was thinking about other symbols then arrow heads like circles and maybe a cross. This could into that work.

I think by default all arrows should be "normal" as in here: http://www.graphviz.org/doc/info/arrows.html

The parsing supports --o as well but there are no rendering for that yet so when the arrows are overlooked, the arrow ending in a dot should also be included and maybe a --x as well.

Along those lines, is there support for double-headed arrows? This would be useful for indicating bidirectional relationships, and would also avoid cluttering up the graph with two arrows.

Yes I can see the point with that. The obvious syntax will not work though <-> will be interpreted as a tag by the browser.
