cannot find file?

i get the error:

  Metalsmith · file "./config.yml" not found

in my metalsmith.json file i point to the config file as

    "metalsmith-metadata": {
      "config": "./config.yml"
    },

I have the config.yml file in the root directory

[semyonf]

Turns out the file had to be specified with a leading slash, I'm using gulp BTW
