Edit: Try reverting to "jei-1.20.1-forge-15.2.0.27" it fixed things for me

I had the same issue (custom modpack) with 15.3.0.1 ans 15.3.0.4. Reverting back to 15.2.0.27 resolves the bug.

Please try the latest release of JEI from today, I updated it to try to contain the damage from broken tooltips a bit better.
