Funny that you ask, because I think it's the only plug-in which actually has one :) , see plugins/textool/Doc/.
It currently only works for patches, however.
create a e.g. cylinder and apply a texture
make sure cylinder is selected
go to Plugins/textool/Gi
There's no a 2D view of the texture and vertices/control points. Move some control points and observer the 3D view. Note: it may happen you move vertices on the back of the cylinder, be sure to try all for a start. See my example screenshot @ http://my-serve.rs/tmp/textool_in_action.jpg .

E.g. I've activated the
textool
plugin which provides this for patches.Is something like that sufficient, and yes, how would it translate to brushes?
