Summary

A customer has redesigned and implemented a slim version of our existing top navigation component. Research with the team to understand the requirement for the new variant of top navigation, and then implement as new component variant.

💬 Description

  • Plan questions to gather information from the team. These might include;
  1. Can you describe the specific challenges or limitations you encountered with the previous navigation component.
  2. What are the primary goals or objectives you hope to achieve with this new navigation component?
  3. Are there any specific features of functionalities that you considered essential for the new navigation component?
  4. How will the new navigation component integrate with existing design elements or systems?
  • Explore other design systems and other site implementation of a slim top navigation.

  • Consider the following elements within:
    -- App title
    -- App icon
    -- Action buttons (icon or labelled)
    -- Menu button
    -- Search bar

  • Main aim is to reduce height of top navigation by removing navigation bar.

  • Explore sticky vs non-sticky

  • Add appearance variants, size variants.

📝 Acceptance Criteria

Given

The existing navigation component has been identified as insufficient for user needs.
Feedback from users and stakeholders has been gathered to inform the design of the new navigation component.

When

The navigation component is designed and developed

Then

User feedback on the new navigation variant is positive, indicting improved usability and satisfaction compared to the previous version.
