The lsp instances remain running even after vscode editors are shut down.

Hi Gorkem, can you tell me how you ran into this issue? Also, any details about your OS, VS Code version, and Java would be great too.

On Windows 10, I started VS Code and started editing a XML file. I saw in my task manager that a java process was created. On exiting VS Code, I see the process goes away.
