Description of the new feature / enhancement

This is the way macos (at least by default) functions, and on my work laptop I've become accustomed to being able to open existing instances of programs as part of my workflow.

I find this better than alt tabbing as I don't need to cycle through all my running instances, and I'm able to switch between my workspaces easily.

An example is if I'm using my browser and doing some thing in intellij, terminal open, some other stuff it's easier to be able to just type firefox and go straight to the running instance and type terminal to get back, as I'm used to that in my work macos setup

Scenario when this would be used?

Generally just used for basic application switching, but I find it much more efficient that alt tabbing and cycling through each open application. Especially when I have a lot of apps running. Also being able to switch to a running app in a different workspace without having to use the mouse makes my workflow much faster

There is a preinstalled plugin for doing this. It has the direct activation command <:

If you want to include these results wothout the activation command go to the settings. Then to PowerToys Run and then scroll down to the window walker entry. Expand the entry and select Include in global result.

Thanks yeah this is basically exactly what I wanted. Sorry I've literally only just found and started using powertoys today so I missed that config. The only thing is if I can have that be the default functionality when not using the activation command. Because otherwise I have to scroll down to the option. Not a big deal because I can just use the activation command, but just wondering for my use case if theres a way for that

Could there be a tick box in the settings so you don't need to put the less then sign every time I want to open a running app?
