Keyboard remapping #18440
Comments
Also, to be clear. I have both keyboards. Doesn't matter which is being used, keys have the same issue on both. So definitely software not hardware issue with new keyboard |
Can I see either a report bug zip or a screenshot of the remapping? /needinfo /reportbug |
Figured out the issue. Another user downloaded Sharpkeys and edited the mapping that way without me knowing. With this program uninstalled and the mapping removed everything is back to normal. |
sharpkeys may be a good solution here as it does a pure registry based solution. it can't do shortcuts but can do key to key if memory serves |
Microsoft PowerToys version
0.57.2
Running as admin
Area(s) with issue?
Keyboard Manager
Steps to reproduce
Remapped the windows key to Tilde in PowerToys because I needed it temporarily on a 60% compact keyboard. Went to change it back to the windows key after I got a new keyboard with both keys, but now the keyboard thinks the keys are the same, so if I make a change to the Tilde key it changes the function for the windows key, and vice versa. I have no other programs running that would have this effect on my keyboard. Even with all of the keyboard key remaps deleted in PowerToys, original settings are not reverted.
✔️ Expected Behavior
Tilde back to Tilde
and
windows key back to windows key
❌ Actual Behavior
Tilde = windows key AND windows key = windows key
OR
Tilde = Tilde AND Windows = Tilde
