There's another issue on the tracker that's pretty much the same thing.
Description of the new feature / enhancement
I come from a Linux environment and recently had to also install Windows for building a .NET application. On Linux I rely heavily on virtual desktops to organize applications. Windows has them but has limitations on using them efficiently. Would be handy to be able to:
Switch between virtual desktops with eg.
WIN+1
,WIN+2
,WIN+3
, ... etc. This can be done withCTRL-left
andCTRL-right
, but it does not give any indicator what the current desktop is and it's inefficient. I'd prefer to switch directly to the desktop number.Move windows between virtual desktops with eg.
SHIFT-WIN+1
,SHIFT-WIN+2
, ... etc. For example if Spotify is focused, pressingSHIFT-WIN+3
would move Spotify to desktop 3.Have an indicator on the screen when you switch desktop that shows the name or number of the virtual desktop.
.
Scenario when this would be used?
Work-related apps on desktop 1, IMs on desktop 2, Music on desktop 3, File browsers on desktop 4, etc..
