No disrespect for the work. I'm honestly interested to understand the new feature. Why is this useful when you have the start menu with instant search that also works as a starter? So far the start menu search works a lot better. Especially when searching for system settings.

Not the full differences list but what made me switch from the first to the other:

  • Can access already opened windows/running programs
  • Different design, less clutter
  • No right click needed to start as admin or open containing folder, no need to have multiple tile or waste time in right click's menu
  • When you do calculation with win+s it's done via a bing search, with run it's done via native calculator (I can feel the difference thanks to ADSL)

We agree on the fact that the search is not yet as good as the other one.

I have the same question. And there was a time that "Search" could be configured to be floating at the center of the screen just like Spotlight and PT Launcher. Why can't MSFT keep develop on "Search"?

Then the searched results are different as well. When I type "xbox" I get:
on Search:

But on PT Launcher:

There is no Xbox Console Companion available in PT Launcher.

And I just found that PT Launcher blocked "PrtScn" to function when I tried to get a screen shot.

Well, "PrtScn" works fine. Alternatively, you can use the shortcut Win+Shift+S (Windows snip and sketch), this will surely let you take a screenshot of the PowerToys Run

I mean, "PrtScn" doesn't seem to be able to invoke Snip and Sketch.

They are different. Just like Run prompt is different than start menu.

We have always stated "run prompt" not start menu alternative.

Use what you like better :)
