I'm having the exact same issue, happened since I updated from 0.19 to 0.21.1
on version 0.19 I can find applications, but since the update, exactly like herop, I cannot find any.

by looking at the logs I have this error:

I have another line of the exact same error but this time mentioning another link:

@MaximeVts I have tried a potential fix for your issue. Can you please check if this works by following steps below :

  1. Uninstall Powertoys
  2. Delete folder C:\Program Files\PowerToys, if present.
  3. Extract MSI from .zip file below and install this MSI.

PowerToysSetup-0.21.2-x64.zip

Note: This is not an official build for PowerToys and is only for debugging purposes. Please uninstall it and switch to the latest official version.

Seems your fix is working, I tried with and without administrator mode and it works in both cases:

@somil55 I'm having this issue as well and tried this fix, still seems to be broken for me, I do get some lnk files come up (vscode) but most apps are missing (my un-indexed drive is my 8tb external not the main C: drive)

Happy to run a debug build or provide logs :)

  1. Uninstalled previous PT
  2. The mentioned folder didn't exist
  3. Installed your 0.23.1 MSI
  4. Trying common and admin-mode
Apparently it looks not good with the provided MSI:

But I now have a very different idea:

  • Windows only very recently complained, Office applications would not be longer available
  • But sure enough they are
  • I can open and work with them with no issue at all
  • BUT: If I do PowerToys Run on other apps, they are shown as expected (see at the buttom)

Also, the screenshot you shared for the "other apps" shows outlook as a result of the indexer plugin and not the program plugin, implying an issue with finding apps.
