Does this question already exist in our backlog?

  • I have checked and confirm this is a new question.

What is your question?

Hi team,

I am trying to share the 'Maker - Environment Request' app with my Makers. I have followed the guidance here, shared the app with my Makers group, and granted the 'Power Platform Maker SR' role to that group. The Core components were installed using the 'CoE Setup and Upgrade Wizard'.

Is this all that is required for Makers to successfully run the app?

Makers are receiving the following error when opening the app,
Error when trying to retrieve data from the network

Looking in the Power platform Monitor I can see the app is trying to retrieve data from the Environment Business Areas table,
image

And looking into the Maker SR, there are no permissions for the Environment Business Areas table.

Behaviour in the app is as follows,
Makers are able to raise Environment Requests by clicking the large purple 'Submit a new request' button, which appears on all status views except 'Pending'. Once submitted they cannot view their requests in the 'Maker - Environment Requests' app regardless of the request's status. All views are blank. Also, the toolbar ('Refresh', 'View') is not visible to Makers.

Is there a security role or configuration I am missing?
I have recently upgraded from 4.11 to 4.13, and the issue also existed for me in 4.11.

What solution are you experiencing the issue with?

Core

What solution version are you using?

August 2023 version 4.13

What app or flow are you having the issue with?

Maker - Environment Request

What method are you using to get inventory and telemetry?

Cloud flows

Hello,

it looks like we missed adding permissions to the Environment Business Area table when we added this feature/table to the Environment Request app.

I have updated the Security Role to include permissions for the Environment Business Area table now which will ship with our September release. You can either wait till September and upgrade to the solution then, or modify the security role yourself to add those permissions.

Thank you for raising this,
Manuela

Thank you @manuelap-msft,

Adding the read permission for the Environment Business Area table to 'Power Platform Maker SR' does prevent the error message from appearing.

But it does not seem to resolve the other issues though.

  • The Maker is unable to see their requests on any view.
  • The toolbar options are not visible on any view.
  • The large purple 'Submit a new request' button is not visible on any view that should return results.

Looking in the Monitor there are a couple of other errors, but there isn't a lot of detail

Could these issues be related to permission settings too?

@CamHowarthInForm This has been fixed in the latest release. Please install the latest version of the toolkit following the instructions for installing updates. Note that if you do not remove the unmanaged layers as described there you will not receive updates from us.
