extension.generateSidePreview' not found.

I have a tfs 2015 extension which I created last year. I don't have a package.json but rather a task.json.

I get the error command 'extension.generateSidePreview' not found.

The extension only works when there is a package.json file available, as that is compulsory for VSCode extensions and for node.js projects in general.

But this will effective mean that the extension cannot be used when working with VSTS extensions?

VSTS requires either an extension.json file or a vss-extension.json file.
