The scenarios where we are seeing a need for this are typically:
"Classic" IoT Edge compute scenarios where there is a need for a degree of mixed public/local connectivity with traffic segregation
5G Edge scenarios where we need to interconnect a local RAN, local applications and backhaul for packet data towards either public cloud or an on-prem telco core (and sometimes both)
In both cases, traffic segregation (per plane or workload) plus security are top concerns, since regardless of the solution itself and its connectivity requirements, management/monitoring plane and user plane traffic typically need to reach a telco core of some kind, whether directly via leased lines or indirectly through ExpressRoute.
Provide prescriptive guidance with design considerations and recommendations for the Azure for Telco Industry Reference Architecture.
