Describe the Issue

Moving this from https://devdiv.visualstudio.com/DevDiv/_workitems/edit/2049125.

The .NET MAUI extension is not able to find Xcode, and will show the following entry in the output when using 0.11.87:
Apple platform cannot be initialized. Please verify the Xcode installation.

I'm having the same issue. In order to try to fix this I already installed the latest pre-release v0.12.17 (pre-release) without succes. I'm struggling with this issue for a few weeks already. Desperate.

extra info: The Xcode path was discovered using the MD_APPLE_SDK_ROOT environment variable. Please update it manually and restart VS Code.

First image is the output after 'refresh apple environment' menu option. The second screenshot is after loading the project. Extra info: on the same iMac running from Visual Studio works correctly. (so Xcode seems ok in my opinion)
