I am also experiencing this issue after updating to the latest version of VS Code. I am connecting from an M1 Mac running MacOS to a Windows 10 machine. Before the update, I was only prompted for the password once, now I am prompted twice, sometimes three times. Additionally, I've observed that I can cancel the second prompt seemingly without consequence, I am not noticing any functional limitations. However, if I do cancel the second request, I am re-prompted again when I open a remote folder. Cancelling that request also seems to have no consequence. When attempting to connect to a server using the Visual Studio Code SSH extension, I am encountering a problem where the server repeatedly prompts for the password multiple times during the connection process. This behavior is causing unnecessary effort and inconvenience.
