Issue Type: Feature Request

There are some extentions that support set image for editor as background, but when startup there is a spalsh , which is not elegant. It will be awesome if vscode can support background image natively like Jetbrains IDEA.

VS Code version: Code 1.51.1 (e5a624b, 2020-11-10T23:34:32.027Z)
OS version: Windows_NT x64 10.0.19042

How can anyone give a thumbs down on this? Of course, there are more important features, but if you don't want, just don't use.

The community has been asking for this feature for years.... 😞

Aww

If there's not going to be any first-class support for this, is it possible it will become something one could make as an extension in the future then..?
There already is one that's trying to do this, but it modifies VSCode internals to work, and that doesn't seem particularly great
