When employing a workspace with multiple folders, regardless of some/all being currently folded (unexpanded), they all get unfolded to their direct contents when restarting the editor, as of latest VSCode version.
I don't recall or didn't notice this happening until a week ago or so, but I think this should be fixed so that all workspace root folders restore their previous state in the tree view, as this can get clearly annoying (additionally, if only root folders were folded instead on restart, that would make it a greatly smaller problem).
VS Code version: Code 1.61.2 (6cba118, 2021-10-19T14:57:20.575Z)
OS version: Windows_NT x64 10.0.19042
