Ubuntu 18.04, insiders

  1. View, open appearance submenu
  2. Now naturally move your mouse towards "Zoom In"
  3. Notice how Editor Layout menu opens, since I have actually moved over it wanting to get to "Zoom In" 馃悰

Now take a native menu and try the same, and notice this is easier to do.
My recommendation: show a new submenu when an existing submenu is already showing with a slight delay - seems to be native menus are doing exactly this.
