Updates consistently fail

For the last couple of months installation has failed every time I've run it from the updater. I get an error about not being able to mark a file for deletion. VS Code is not running and there are no lurking processes that I see in task manager. I use the system installer. Each time I end up uninstalling VS Code and re-installing it manually.
