Issue Type: Feature Request

When editing markdown file, it is quite convenient to have the preview in a aplit view. However, when I switch to another opened file (or closing the md file), the preview of markdown and the split is still there. This is annoying because I can only use half of the window for the new file.

VS Code version: Code 1.30.1 (dea8705, 2018-12-18T18:05:00.654Z)
OS version: Darwin x64 18.2.0

Is this request planned in a future milestone ?
It is a bit counterintuitive that once a .md file opened, the markdown preview is opened ad vitam aeternam until the user closes it manually.
Or at least have an option to enable/disable this behaviour.
