How can I best investigate a hang during installation of MS Store package Microsoft To Do?

Now that Allow winget to install MS Store packages without account #2095 has been implemented for a while, I tried to to install Microsoft To Do (with MS Store ID 9NBLGGH5R558).

Using winget version v1.3.2091 as a local user without UAC elevation, the install hangs (see output and log below) with an ever tumbling spinner.

I tried looking with an elevated Process Explorer for any child processes that winget.exe has, but there are none.

How can I best investigate this further?

In the mean time the system has rebooted (because of a Windows 10 update).

Will retry after with winget install --verbose-logs --accept-source-agreements --accept-package-agreements 9NBLGGH5R558 tomorrow (probably more windows updates coming today and wanting to get some work done in between).

winget is just waiting on an internal service (InstallService [I think]) to complete. I think you could see the status of all operations by opening the Store app and looking at the Library page. It is possible that there are other ongoing installs preventing yours from completing.

There is a way to collect the logs (wscollect) that puts a cab on the desktop. I don't know if there is any information in there that you shouldn't put out publicly though, so I wouldn't suggest posting here. You could use Feedback Hub to file an issue though. If you use the Microsoft Store > Downloading, installing and updating category to report it, the same information will be attached to the bug and we can forward it to the appropriate team.
