when trying to download from twitter it now turns into pbs.twimg & video.twimg.com and doesnt show up anything in folder either after I updated gallery-dl or atleast believe I did. I'm new to all this so I'm not sure why this happened, it was fine before

You should open a terminal (a console) in a folder you aimed download files to.
The easy way is to type cmd in the address bar of File Explorer:

Then, for example, type the follow:

gallery-dl.exe https://twitter.com/SpaceX

gallery-dl.exe file should be located in a PATH, or inside this folder.

Sounds like you are using -g/--get-urls or -G/--resolve-urls, which only prints download URLs and doesn't download anything.
