Summary

Remote file caching takes a lot of space, but increases the usability of the instance dramatically. I would like to be able to limit the cache size to a sane quota (e.g. 32 or 64 GB). A Least-Frequently-Used or Adaptive Replacement Cache may be best for this.

I'd second this. I've wasted 200gb and stopped hosting because of this.
