I'm running goread locally using the dev appserver, was surprised to find that, if you don't pass --storage_dir when starting the server, you'll lose your data on every restart. Might be a good idea to add a note to the README.

I don't think it's good to start documenting how the dev server works here. I am ok with linking to the official docs so that people can figure stuff out on their own.

Okay, fair enough. I've found some other problems with the dev server, so I guess using it is simply not the recommended mode of operation.

(Is there any way to run a non-dev app server locally? I guess not.)

The dev server is for development. If you want goread in production mode, why not upload to google's servers? It's free.

Well, keeping my stuff out of clouds owned by big US-based companies is more or less what I'm trying to avoid. I guess I'll look into other readers (unfortunately -- this one is the best one I've used so far).

Look into appscale, a free app engine
API-compat library. It should allow you to run wherever you need.
