Funnily enough I just lobbed in here to ask the same question. I have an (ostensibly) working iBeacon and running iteration of room-assistant.

But I have no idea what to put as the 'device_id' in Home Assistant nor how to set up the JSON for room-assistant.

If you don't know the BLE tag id from the packaging or a companion app, the best way to figure it out currently is to turn on the console publisher and check the incoming data.

So after creating a copy of default.json (as described in the README), set enabled to true in the console publisher config section. Also turn on the BLE component. Start room-assistant and keep an eye on the console output. Either turn on the bluetooth tag you have and figure out which one is new, or move the tag really close to the Raspberry (or move it around) and check the reported distance. Using these methods you can figure out which device ids to put into the whitelist and into the Home Assistant config.

The rest of the config options is described in the README as well. Is there anything (else) you specifically need help with?
