As a beginner to Android, it would be good if the user could look at the hierarchy and be able to identify what they should-know vs nice-to-know vs experimental-phase. This could be in the form of design or colour-coding.

It's a great suggestion! We will discuss about how to implement this on our roadmap and we return an answer soon about it. In meantime, feel free to open a PR with the suggested implementation of this improvement!

Slight alpha/dimming could be enough, doesn't necessarily need to change structure.
