Compiler error FS_end and FS_start was not declared in this scope (Version 2.8.0 and above)

When changing the library from version 2.7.11 to 2.8.0 or higher, I get the following compiler error:

If I disable "ENABLE_IMAP" in ESP_Mail_FS.h, I don't get any compiler errors (I saw the short note in #235), because I don't need/use IMAP at the moment.

What is my mistake or is this a Bug?

You should update the library to latest version.

In version 3.0.3 has known other issues about debug printing message and some IMAP issues.
Actually, you can stay with current version until v3.0.4 released.

I'm currently testing v3.0.4 to make sure all bugs are fixed and will release it soon next week.

I have the same behavior also with the current version 3.0.3. .... so I'm waiting for version 3.0.4.

Ok that's because you are using the old esp8266 core.

I will fix for old esp8266 core in the next released.

It is better to update if your code can run on the latest core.

Thanks for the tip - I've now updated PlatformIO in Visual Studio Code to the "Espressif 8266" platform. This contains, among other things, the Arduino Core v3.1.
Version 3.0.3 of "ESP Mail Client" can now also be compiled.
Learned something again - I'm not very experienced with the tools & frameworks - Thank you!
