I'm somewhat inexperienced with customizing vim syntax highlighting, but since I love gruvbox and rust, I will take a look at this today/this week. 👍

So, from what I can tell, the rust.vim plugin already does a pretty good job: https://github.com/rust-lang/rust.vim/blob/master/syntax/rust.vim#L217-L287

Here is an example of what the dark version looks like without any changes:

I only removed the highlight for the path separator (::) because I think it doesn't make sense to highlight those and it looks like this:

@morhetz Did you have some other things in mind when you created the issue?

@phansch more or less, just wanted to research that and develop kindo more advanced customization
So actually I can't say anything specific on this at the moment, need to get my hands on first
