How to Install GT1 V39 on Your PC Using VMware Workstation

If you want to use BMW GT1 software to diagnose and program your BMW vehicles, you will need to install it on your PC. One way to do this is to use VMware workstation, which is a virtualization software that allows you to run multiple operating systems on one machine. This way, you can avoid hardware compatibility problems and save time and space.

In this article, we will show you how to install GT1 V39 on your PC using VMware workstation. You will need the following items before you start:

  • VMware workstation (latest version)
  • GT1 install disk V1.1 (or image)
  • GT1 V39 Base CD (or image)
  • DIS V39 Program Disk
  • TIS and CIP (only if you want to install them)(or image)
  • V36 Boot image (supplied)
  • Daemon Tools for mounting CDâ��s (if not ISO)
  • Ultra ISO
  • Nero Burning Rom
  • V19 Boot disks
  • Custom floppy with shadow file on (supplied)
  • Rawwrite to write custom floppy

  1. Create a new virtual machine in VMware workstation. Choose "Other" as the operating system and name it "GT1 V39". Assign 1 processor, 256 MB RAM, bridged networking, SCSI on Bus logic, and a new 20 GB IDE virtual disk. Rename the VMDK file as "GT1 V39". Start the virtual machine and set the floppy disk to 2.88MB.
  2. Load the GT1 V1.1 install CD in to the CD-ROM of your PC or mount it using Daemon Tools. Boot the virtual machine from the CD-ROM. This will set up all necessary partitions on the virtual disk.
  3. When it says "Please insert CD �GT1 Base�, switch off the virtual machine. Load the GT1 V39 Base CD in to the CD-ROM or mount it using Daemon Tools. Boot the virtual machine from the CD-ROM. This will install the base system.
  4. When it says "Please insert DIS Program Disk", switch off the virtual machine. Load the DIS V39 Program Disk in to the CD-ROM or mount it using Daemon Tools. Boot the virtual machine from the CD-ROM. This will install the DIS software.
  5. If you want to install TIS and CIP, repeat step 4 with the respective disks.
  6. Switch off the virtual machine. Load the V36 Boot image in to the CD-ROM or mount it using Daemon Tools. Boot the virtual machine from the CD-ROM. This will update the boot loader.
  7. Switch off the virtual machine. Write the custom floppy with shadow file on using Rawwrite. Load it in to the floppy drive of your PC or mount it using Daemon Tools. Boot the virtual machine from the floppy disk. This will update some files and settings.
  8. Switch off the virtual machine. Load the V19 Boot disks in to the floppy drive of your PC or mount them using Daemon Tools one by one. Boot the virtual machine from each disk sequentially. This will update some more files and settings.
  9. Congratulations! You have successfully installed GT1 V39 on your PC using VMware workstation. You can now connect your GT1 interface to your PC and start diagnosing and programming your BMW vehicles.
