A few times in the past, but not these days. I feel like you can't mentor things that make someone a great software engineer — endless curiosity, enthusiasm, love for technology, a constant desire to learn, hacking on fun pet projects etc. If someone has a talent to become a great software engineer, he doesn't need mentoring. Pretty much everything you need you can find online.
It's better to lead by example and try to inspire others with your own work rather than mentor directly IMHO.
